Answers:
As far as Indian restaurants go, I can cook the same food at home and it's usually better! I can control the amount of oil and ghee, so it's also healthier!. I also prefer to eat at the more "Indianized" restaurants or places that I know to be more authentic and traditional!. These type of restaurants tend to offer more home style cooking and some of the more uncommon and unfamiliar dishes!. You will find very few non-Indians in these places, they cater more towards the Indian palate!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The Chinese restaurants which you don't see Chinese eating there, it is because the food is Americanized!. If you want to go to a good Chinese place, you should be able to see plenty of Chinese people there!. It is the indicator of a good place to eat!.also, like some of the Answerers said, Chinese can cook Chinese, they rather spend the money on food which they cannot cook or hard to cook!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I am a former chef from Canada and agree with a number of people about the issues, Desi Chef is right on, why would a Chinese or Indian person want to go to a take away for food, and if you go to a genuine Chinatown or Indian district were the food is authentic and regional not the palava in the take away places, alot is not even from the country's of origin the do gear it to foreign tongues, I worked in Singapore Japan and Jamaica, and go there and you find non traditional foods done the same way!. Like burgers, KFC and pizza, in Japan they have some really strange topping as for those in the US and UK!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Because Chinese people do not eat what we class as " chinese food " and the same with Indian people with " Indian food "!. Curry for example, is actually an English dish in origin, it was what members of the Raj had cooked for them by Indian servants/slaves during our Imperial occupation of the country!. Ever since, it is what the Indians have cooked for us when they come over here, but you wouldn't be able to get a curry ( as we would recognise ) over there, apart from maybe a few tourist hotspots!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

it depends on what you think of as a chinese restaurant!. for chinese people, like myself, the food at panda express for example is westernized and pretty "fake" tasting so we really avoid those kinds of places!. The food is also way too sweet or salty or oily!.

although we do tend to cook chinese food at home, we do go out to chinese restaurants, but just to a select few that serve more "home-ish" types of food!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

now

im glad you asked that and take this hint*

if you don't see Chinese eating at a Chinese restaurant, then dint put a foot on it

same for indians

same for italians

same for all any kind of ethnic restaurant!.

if LOCALS aren't eating there, means the food is bad!.

got it!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

You must live in a small community or stay isolated
!.Maybe you visit at the wrong time!.!.
where I used to live the Asian people patronized the many restaurants in Sacramento CA
Families of 10 and more at one round table
I remember once I stopped by late and the entire cook staff were having the evening meal Www@FoodAQ@Com

because they always eat that type of food at home and when they go out to eat they most likely want to try different food, like pizza or hamburgers, so thats why, just like in america we like to try different things like thai and japanese food but we could easily walk into a hamburger joint also!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Because you go to the cheesy franchise Americanized ewthnic restaurants!. The real hole in the wall places where the people of that nationality eat are the best and most authentic!.

That's why you don't see Chinese people eating at PF Chang'sWww@FoodAQ@Com

You see plenty of them in certain restaurants here in New York, that's how you know it's a good restaurant!.

If you don't see people there of the culture that the cuisine is supposed to be from, avoid the place!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Go to "Chinatown" in London's Soho or Manchester - lots of Chinese eating in Chinese restaurants; likewise lots of "Indians" in "Indian" (mostly Bangladeshi) eateries!.

McDonald's is international as is their clientele!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you visit China Town in London you see lots of Chinese people eating out this to me is a good indication of where to eat and I am sure its the same at Top Indian restaurants - go to the places where you see the people eatWww@FoodAQ@Com

Yes you are right they base their food towards western tastes like the chicken tikka masala is not a traditional indian dish it was made for western tastes!. However i do see chinese people eating in chinese resteurants!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

That's not necessarily true!. I go to a Japanese/Korean restaurant and the place is filled with Japanese and Korean people!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Chinese people don't eat from chinese takeaway because as you said it has been westernised to suit our tastes, i have seen indian people eat indian takeaway food tho!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

a lot of te food in chinese shop is not proper chinese food, a lot is cantonese which is differentWww@FoodAQ@Com

I see them in those places all the time, especially the buffets!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
