Classic or Coconut Flan?!
Someone special's birthday is coming up and I plan on making Flan!. They are from Puerto Rico, their family is originally Spanish from the Canary Islands!. I know that they love flan and they also love coconut, banana, fish, anything that they used to eat on the island!. Do you think I should make a classic regular flan or a coconut flan for an extra oomph!? Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
Only make the coconut version if you can find a good recipe for it!. Don't try to make it up if it's for a birthday, it'd be too disappointing if it went wrong!. (unless you're like a pro chef of some sort!. then I'd say go for it!)Www@FoodAQ@Com
Classic!. My bro lived in Puerto Rico and they ate flan all the time!.
Coconut flan would be delicious but I think flan might also be one of those dishes that when it is not prepared "like mama used to make it" would disappoint on an emotional level!.
Kinda of like cranberry sauce on Thanksgiving!. Every family has their opinion, whole or jellied!. In my family, they have to have the lines from the can on it or they won't eat it!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Coconut flan sounds delicious! It shows you have taken the time to fuse together two traditional ingredients from their Island!. Use the best recipe you have!.
Good luck!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
