The culinary art form of the british tea is dieing out as it was a nightmare to do properly!.
It was just as much about the table setting, linen, best crockery, silver cutlery & tea sets as the food, which was braggingly always homemade with things like quality of pastries etc being a talking point!.
However i was serving some very wealthy familys & it is different for different social backgrounds!.
the last link is really good fun so hope you enjoy & can put some quirkiness in your project backed up by these historical facts, below!.

Ahh, afternoon tea!. One of our best traditions!

The most traditional sandwich for a British Tea is sliced cucumber on white bread with the crusts cut off!. also egg mayonnaise sandwiches served the same way!.

You would normally have scones with this too!. Have small pots of jam and clotted cream to go on the scones!. The whole thing should be served on a 3 tiered cake plate with small side plates to eat from!. As mentioned go for decorative silver cutlery etc!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
