What are unique foods to America?!
What are some unique American foods!. I know a lot of food like Hamburgers, hot dogs, and such are based off foods from other countries!. Any completely original American food!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't think there's such a thing as completely original food from anywhere!. For example, did you know that tempura, the famous Japanese food, was inspired by Portuguese traders!? In Taiwan, there's a food dish called "tianbula" which is inspired by Japanese tempura, yet isn't really like Japanese tempura!. Cultures have influence on each other all the time, and this isn't a new thing at all--human migration patterns throughout history have brought new crops and new techniques from one place to another!.
Hamburgers and hot dogs may be inspired by German cuisine, but I guarantee you they are not like the German originals!. American pizza isn't like Italian pizza!. Just like the Japanese took the Portuguese original and made it something different and uniquely Japanese, and the Taiwanese did to Japanese tempura in turn, Americans have taken many foods and made them something new and different!.
Therefore I think it's entirely accurate to say that a hamburger, prepared in the American way, is an original American food!. And the cheeseburger, by all accounts, was invented in America!.

That's kind of absurd, isn't it!? But some really original American foods, classic or characteristic foods, I would say the following:
pumpkin pie
chili (specifically Texas)
pizza in various styles such as New York style or Chicago style
Southern barbecue
grits (this one I think comes closest to the idea of a completely original American food, because ground hominy was originally an American Indian food)
cheesesteaks

America is relatively a young country founded by all different immigrants!. Almost all the foods that people associate with America has their roots from somewhere else, just like American Ethnicity!.
European immigrants have their influence on things like burgers, pizza, hot dog etc
Slaves from Africa have their influence on southern cuisine or soul food
Mixture of african slaves, french, and carribean island natives has their influence on creole and cajun food!.

Down south we have chitlin( pig intestines), pigs feet, chicken gizards and livers!. Hog jowl, cracklin and a whole lot of other foods I have trouble identifying :)Www@FoodAQ@Com
