Is Mexican food much different than Spanish food?!

Question: Is Mexican food much different than Spanish food!?
Answers:
There has been about 200 years of trade across the Atlantic and most all varieties of produce are now available world wide
I believe the only difference will be style
I believe Spain is influenced by all of Europe and Mexico by America and the South American nations
EDIT
Did some of these people forget Spain militarily ruled Maxico for more than 100 yearsWww@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, Spain ruled Mexico for years, but that was a VERY long time ago!. While there are some common ingredients between the 2 countries, the cuisines are very, very different; not just between the 2 countries, but among the different regions of each country!. Central and Southern Mexico tend to have slightly different cuisines, and Spanish food is uniquely different from Mexican food!. Each region of Spain has unique dishes as well!. There's no way you would not be able to distinguish the 2 if they were placed on 2 different tables in front of you!. Don't forget that climate, geography and soil heavily influence what many cultures traditionally eat, so it's not just about cultural influence!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well, not really different considering the Mexican food is Spanish food!.
Every Spanish culture has some type of beans and rice!.
While Mexicans eat more pinto beans and Spanish rice, Cubans eat black beans with short grain rice!. There are foods that differ between the various latin cultures, however; the basics are the same!.
Most of them have some type of meat pie (empanadas), guava pastries (pastilitos), ground beef dish (picadillo), flan, etc!.
They are so very similar yet the preparations can differ!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

wow, my faith in the little orange box that says top contributor is totally shattered!.!.!.

Victoria G is definitely right!.!.!. Apples to Apples is so clueless!.

first of all, Spanish does not mean Hispanic which does not mean Latin!.
Latin foods are so diverse that saying that basically they are all the same is totally crazy!. That's like saying Japanese food and Chinese food are basically the same just because they have rice in common!. WRONG

here's what I know from my experience with my Mexican girlfriend and her family and from my trip to Mexico and from my ex girlfriend who lived in Spain for 1 year!.

many Mexican cuisine includes rice, beans, and peppers!. A lot of their food are influenced by indigenous cultures!. They also utilize the one thing that you will never find in a authentic true spanish cuisine: Corn Tortilla!. If you've ever eaten with a Mexican family, you will know that corn tortilla is a must at all times!.

Spanish cuisine is more fundamentally Mediterranean cuisine!.!.!. fava and lentil beans along with cabbage with meat, etc!. They also utilize the one thing that you will never find in true authentic mexican cuisine: olives and olive oil!.

some dishes might throw you off into thinking they are same though!. That's because when Spain settled Mexico, they brought back with them tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, and started integrating it into their cuisine!. They also introduced the indigenous Mexican cultures to new foods like rice, garlic, and onions!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Mexican food (real mex, not tex mex) tends to be more spicy with liberal use of peppers, cilantro and other spices, plus they use tortillas heavily!. Very traditional mexican food consists of seafood, moles, and there are regional differences: Mayan consists of ground squash seeds as a filler and many areas of mexico cook food in corn husks or banana leaves!. Spanish food, heavily seafood, but tends to be more mediterannean!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

of course they are different!!!? eventough the language is almost the same, the cultures are different!.!.!. each country has different backgrounds, each one has different foods and resources to make it,there are a lot of mexican foods that spanish people don't even know what it is!.!.!. and i know it because i'm mexican! lol!.!.!.=]Www@FoodAQ@Com

Of course they are different!.

Mexico and Spain are two different countries!. It's funny how people that aren't even of the decent try to answer these questions when they don't even know what they are talking about!.!.!. I mean how would someone that knows a Cuban even try to answer this question!.!.!. I mean is Cuba in Spain or Mexico!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
