Answers:
when we eat something, different enzymes in our body chemically break down the food into smaller, more simple substances that our body can use!.

For example, if you drink milk, which is made of glucose and galactose bonded together (they are monosaccharides, a part of a carb), then amylase, which is the enzyme in your mouth, will begin to break down the milk into the glucose and galactose!. Then is goes into your stomach and gets digested with more enzymes and once it gets into the small intestine, the nutrients ready to be absorbed by the body!. They are now in a form that your body can use (they are now only bonded elements (carbon rings and phosphate groups, for example))!. The small intestine is where all the nutrients (and also vitamin and minerals) are absorbed and all of the waste that you don't need is sent out of the body!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Most foods are converted into energy through carbohydrates; sugars, starches, etc!. Others contain antioxidants and vitamins to protect the immune system!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
