Answers:
Wasabi is generally sold either in the form of a root (real wasabi), which must be very finely grated before use, or as a ready-to-use paste (horseradish, mustard and food coloring), usually in tubes approximately the size and shape of travel toothpaste tubes!.
!.
Bottom Line: Most wasabi bought in stores is processed!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

True!.

Most "wasabi" in sushi bars is horseradish, perhaps with a little real wasabi, and mustard!. Supermarkets and fast food places may not even use horseradish!.

Real wasabi is expensive and has a very different taste!. Many people that have tried fresh real wasabi report that they don't care for it as much as what they've been using!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

"Wasabi" in most of Europe and America is actually horseradish & green coloring!. Real wasabi tastes almost exactly the same, and costs a small fortune!.

But it isn't a "conspiracy", LOL, you must just have been out the day the message went out about this!

BTW "Pancake syrup" isn't made from maple, either, it's usually tumeric powder mixed with sugar syrup!.!.!.!.!.EEEKKKK! Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yep!. It's true!. Outside of Japan, you're probably not going to get genuine grated wasabi root!. What we're accustomed to here in the US is reconstituted horseradish powder that has been dyed green!.

That having been said, there's nothing wrong with what we get here!. The stuff we Gaijin know as Wasabi is quite flavorful and, as I'm sure you know, packs quite a bit of heat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes real wasabi is not hotWww@FoodAQ@Com
