What do the Brits like to eat?!

Question: What do the Brits like to eat!?
hi, i was wondering what the Brits like to eat at cafes/diners!?

everytime i go into a cafe for a coffee, the Brits seem to be hooked on Bacon sandwiches or Sausage sandwiches or the All day breakfast!.

what else is normally served in cafes in the UK!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Not having a go but very few of us like to be called Brits!. The Welsh, Irish and Scottish minorities all like to be identified by their respective countries, inexplicably!.

The English, more understandably, take enormous pride in being English!.

So, to answer your question, we English have a varied palate!. Some Indian dishes (and faux Indian dishes) like chicken korma nestle on our table of favourites alongside more traditional English dishes like roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, jam roly poly (a kind of sponge cake with custard), cottage pie and shepherd's pie!.

Don't forget, of course, the sandwich: now the most popular meal around the world but invented here in England by the Earl of Sandwich!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i think you will find that many cafes tend to offer the foods they believe they can sell!.
if the proprietors think their potential customers want bacon/sausage butties, that is what they offer!.
personally if i am going for a coffee , i will have a slice of cake with it (carrot if pos!.)
my local town has all sorts of food on offer- tapas - indian - kebabs - chinese - fish & chips - italian
there are two coffee shops - offering sandwiches , salads, cakes , etc & a couple of cafes offering more stereotypical "transport cafe" food ( all day breakfasts)
really it is a case of "whatever takes your fancy"
i let my mood choose for me - or usually my sense of smell !!!

what sort of answer would a typical american give if a brit said "those americans only eat McDonald's , pastrami on rye & meatball subs " !?!?

Other than everything else that's already been mentioned by everyone else, I remember eating this other egg dish for breakfast in a cafe when I visited UK about three years ago!. It's basically a boiled egg rolled in the center of a ball of mashed potato coated with breadcrumbs and possibly deep fried!. Yum!. If someone knows what it's called, holler out the name!.

That and fish and chips!.!.!.mmmmm!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Bacon (or sausage) sandwiches are popular here!. In more provincial towns you may hear them referred to as 'bacon butties', though, or 'bacon barms'!.

Cafes probably aren't the best port of call if you really want to sample British cuisine, though!. I'd steer clear and try to hit a nice English restaurant like Rules in Covent Garden, which has more traditional English and British food!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Personally I never eat in cafes because they tend to be greasy and don't serve the food I like!. The only time I eat English food is at home - I like Toad in the Hole, Baked potatoes, fresh bread with cheese and pickles, homemade cakes or scones!.
When I eat out I go for Indian, Chinese, Italian, Turkish etc but never an English cafe!. also cook a lot of foreign style food at home!.
