Wheat flour and gram flour?!

Question: Wheat flour and gram flour!?
what is the difference between Wheat Flour and Gram Flour!?
I am going to make some Naan bread and have only Gram flour, will this give a poor result!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
The Naan is made with Wheat flour!. Wheat has gluten and is elastic!. The dough holds and does not tear!.

Gram flour is made from slightly roasted Chickpeas!. It is gluten-free!. The dough will not be elastic!. The rolled out or pressed out Naan will tear!.

The tastes wil be different!.

In India, they make Missi Roti (Flat bread) with 3 parts Wheat flour and one part Gram flour!. It works well and tastes great!. A Naan made like Missi Roti would be interesting!.
A Naan with gram flour alone will most likely not work, even if the taste was very novel!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

A lot of difference to be sure, wheat flour as is plain from the term is just ground whole wheat called atta in India , gram flour is ground split yellow peas, called besan ,this is spiced & made into a coating batter for savoury fritters called bhajjis, also made into various sweets & desserts like halwas & laddus!.
Breads of all types use wheat flour on it's own or mixed with refined wheat flour,or semolina for variations ,naan cannot be made with gram flour you will need to stick to wheat flour!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
