Okay to eat non-halal at someone's house?!
I read somewhere or heard my Dad say this to me a long time ago: It's okay to eat non-halal meat at someone's house if they invited you over as a guest!.
Reason: Because it is rude to not accept food that they have prepared for you!. Islam values politeness and hospitality over halal/non-halal!.
I don't know where to find this so I can't go back to where I've seen it!.
* NOT PORK! I'm talking about other meats (chicken, beef, lamb, turkey, etc)!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm Christian!. Listen to your Dad!. He is wise and kind!. For that matter, the Koran says Muslims can eat pork in extreme circumstances (such as to avoid starvation)!. God is compassionate and merciful!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I had a coworker who was a VERY devout muslim from Egypt, and he would sometimes try things that others had made if they were made for him as long as they didn't have pork out of politeness!. If he was buying or preparing his own food it was halal, but he said that he accepted that in the US, if you wanted to be social with people, sometimes he'd accept what it was all about and just do it!.
I had another coworker who was more into Islam for political/divisive reasons and from Lebanon originally!. I'm a vegetarian and everything I make would be considered halal, and he wouldn't try it because he didn't trust me!.
Guess who people like more!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It depends!. Strictly speaking no if you follow the Zabihah rules!.
However it is not forbidden meat so the rules to follow are somehow relaxter!. Yes, if you want to honour the host you can!.!.however he does not honour you as a guest and provides you meat you are allowed!. I suggest you follow the same rules I taught my children when they are at someones house and dont like something!. Eat a bit out of politeness or pretend to eat it and then push it under a salad leav, eat the rest all up and then declare that you are really full but all was very delicious!. ;-)Www@FoodAQ@Com
