What is the best recipe for Horchata? ?!


Question: What is the best recipe for Horchata!? !?
No matter who makes it in my family it always tastes better from the restaurant!. Do they buy a mix for it or make it home made!? Do you have a good recipe!?!? Www@FoodAQ@Com

Ingredients: (4 people)

300 grs!. of groundnuts (chufas)!.

250 grs!. of sugar!.

1 and ? liters of water!.

1 crust of lemon!.


Put the groundnuts (chufas) in a bowl with water for 12 hours!. Put the crust of lemon in a big pitcher (7 pieces, and only the yellow part), the sugar, groundnuts and water!. Use then the mixer to crush it all and let it rest for 2 or 3 hours in the fridge!. After that, strain it with the colander!. Serve it in glasses and use cinnamon to adorn it!.


I'm Spanish and I've been doing some research on how they make it in Valencia (where you can find the best horchata)!. All the recipes I've found don't mention any mix, but they prepare it themselves!.

THEY MAKE IT HOMEMADE, RESTAURANTS USE MIXES, THIS IS I HOW SAW MY MOM DO IT!. SHE WOULD GRIND RICE AND CINNAMON STICKS IN A BLENDER !. THEN THE MIXTURE WAS PLACED IN A BOWL, OF BOILING WATER!. IT WOULD SIT IN IT OVER NIGHT!. THEN SHE WOULD SHE WOULD GET A TRIPPLE LAYER OF CHEESE CLOTH OR A REAL GOOD STRAINER TO SEPERATE THE RICE AND CINNAMON FROM THE LIQUID!. THEN SHE WOULD ADD SOME MILK, A LITTLE BIT OF VANILLA EXTRACT, AND SUGAR TO TASTEWww@FoodAQ@Com
