Both are the same edible root tuber used as a vegetable as well as livestock feed,botanical name Ipomea batatas!.The word batata is of portugese origin & has stayed on in places where there was once portugese influnence!.Many states in India still refer to a potato as batata!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
NOTHING BECAUSE SWEET POTATO AND SWEET BATATA ARE JUST SIMILAR BREEDS WITH DIFFERENT NAMES!. BATATA MEANS POTATO IN PORTUGUESE!. IN WIKIPEDIA IT SAYS THE SAME THING!.
