Artdavin, while your stroganof recipe looks tasty, it is Russian, not German!.
German food can vary from area to area and also from different ethnic backgrounds!. German Russian food is much different than typical German cuisine but does contain the obligatory kraut and wurst!. LOL
In the Alsace area, there is a strong French influence that makes for interesting foods!. Kuchen is our families favorite German sweet treat and my daughters and I make lots of it during the holidays!. Spaetzle and kraut and Jeager schnitzel are all good too!. Check out a German cookbook at your local library or look in the yellow pages for a German restaurant in your area!. Here in Rochester MN, we have an Alsatian bistro and about 70 miles west is a very lovely German restaurant as well!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

There are lots to go at!.
Obviously there are all the sausages and their burgers are great, they mix beef and pork which makes them taste fantastic!.
The cooked red cabbage is very good, it is mixed with onion, apple and sugar and spices!. It makes a wonderful sweet and sour taste when it is done well!.
They are also very good at stews!. I had a delicious one that was apparently made from the beasts of the forrest!.
The cakes are to die for, The black forrest gateau is legendary!.
if you get to try German food in Germany, I would ask what is the local speciality, they will be very proud of it and pleased you are interested!.
Mmmm making me hungry now! Enjoy!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Even though most of my family is from or still lives in Germany, I'm not a big German food fan!. Spaetzle, schnitzel, and goulash can be good!.
Rouladen is probably my favorite to eat and make:
1 ? pounds flank steak
stone ground mustard to taste
? pound think sliced bacon
1 large onions, diced
1 (16 oz) jar dill pickle slices
2 tbsp butter
2 ? cups water
1 beef bouillon cube
Cut flank steak into thin filets, about ? inch thick and 3 inches wide!.
Generously spread one side of each filet with mustard to taste!. Place bacon, onions, and pickle slices on each filet and form into a roll!. Use string or toothpicks to hold together!.
Melt butter in skillet over medium heat!. Sauté rolls until browned!.
Add water and bouillon cube!. Stir bouillon to dissolve!. Simmer about an hour!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
