Question: What is your opinion on how some Koreans (and people in other countries) eat dogs!?
This question seems a bit silly, but it's interesting!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
I object to the way the dogs are treated (I've seen it), and I think it's pretty twisted!. However, the way chickens are treated in the U!.S!. isn't much better!. Ditto for pigs!. Cows do a bit better!.

I'm a vegetarian partly for that reason (there are a lot of other reasons)!. There's something a bit sadder about the dogs to me, because culturally I identify them as friends rather than food animals (and I've had pet dogs!.!.!. granted, none of them were the breed that gets eaten)!.

That being said, I don't think anyone has the right to judge!. It's cultural!. Most people eat someone else's friend animal or holy animal and a huge percentage of the population (at least in the US) doesn't give a thought to where their food comes from or at what cost!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Everyone has to eat meat, and if that's what they have and its something they can afford, then it doesn't bother me!. They have to get their nutrients somehow and not everyone is rich enough to buy beef or pork or even have the choice of being a vegetarian!. Plus, its in their culture and its not weird to them, just like lots of African countries eat bugs and worms, but those things are not acceptable in the USA!. On the other hand, you won't be finding me eating dog meat!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

We eat beef in the USA, and there are East Indian religions that deem a cow the spirit of dead ancestors!. We keep traps and poison for rats and mice, yet there are religious temples that are dedicated to rats, where they are protected and fed!. Here in the US, we keep cats and dogs for pets, yet Eastern countries use them regularly for food!. I enjoy venison, rabbit, ostrich, bison and beefalo!.!.!. but there are those who cringe at my food choices!. It's cultural and need, mixed together!. What your parents ate you eat!.!.!. and when the NEED for food becomes stronger than anything else, you will eat whatever is handy rather than starve!. Cultural mores notwithstanding!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's all just a matter of culture!. To Americans it seems almost wrong to eat dogs or cats, but we eat beef regularly, and in India the cow is a sacred animal, so think about how they feel of us eating that!? Food is just food, it all boils down to culture so no one can judge another culture because something in theirs is considered sacrilege in another!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Most people do not see the slaughter of the animal, be they cows, lambs, rabbits, or dogs - they sit comfortably to dine drooling over a nicely presented plate of a meat dish (they don't visualize the animal, pig or dog) then relish the taste - so what difference does it make, eating dog meat or beef!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

People have their own opinions, Ofcourse most dog owners can never eat dogs because they love their pet, but they wont object to rabbits or crocodiles!?

You shouldn't interfere with other people's preferences if it doesnt concern you because what you're eat can be someone elses pet!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

If one is going to eat animals, what makes one animal better than another!? I keep dogs as pets, so I couldn't eat dog, of course!. My other objection is that dogs are carnivores!. Carnivores taste very differently from vegetarian animals!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

what's the difference between dogs and other animals!? there are even cannibals!Www@FoodAQ@Com

You don't eat beef in India!. It's sacred!.
Why should we judge another culture!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm ok with it, but I wouldn't eat itWww@FoodAQ@Com

I think its sick, cruel and beastly!!!!!! Poor dogs!!!!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Its ok with me!. o!.0Www@FoodAQ@Com

its their culture, who are we to judge!?
but i would still be grossed out if they talked about it or tried to feed it to meWww@FoodAQ@Com
