How long will chopped liver stay good in the fridge?!
My 90 year old grandma loves chopped liver, specifically this stuff from a Kosher deli near me!. I want to get her some as a Christmas gift!.
I can ship it in styrofoam with some dry ice to keep it cool and my parents can keep in in the refrigerator until Christmas (Grandma lives with them), but I'm wondering if it would still be ok to eat by then!? Would it be ok for my folks to freeze it in the container and then bring it out in the morning when everyone opens their gifts!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

In Judaism For Dummies, it says, "Keep refrigerated, and serve slightly chilled!. This mixture does not freeze well; the liver is just too fragile"!. It would start to change in flavor after a few days, I wouldn't recommend it after the 4th day since it's made without preservatives!.
This was my thought also!. If you freeze it, the texture changes!. You can prepare them following this recipe (or have it prepared for you locally) and pick it up before Christmas!.
Edit - If your parents have a kosher caterer near them, they could prepare it or send you to a local source, so you don't have to ship it!. The chicken fat lends a unique flavor to this chopped liver!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
