Question about Dim Sum?!
Going for "happy hour" lunch tomorrow at a dim sum garden!.!.!.!.beyond the pork dumplings and shark fin dumplings what is the best kind to try!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
Ha Gow/ Xia Jiao --steamed shrimp dumplings in translucent wrapper
Gao choi bao/ Jiu cai bao --same idea but filled with bright green garlic chives (looks like scallion, but tastes different)
Ha Cheung /Xia Chang --rolled up broad rice noodle, drizzled with tangy brown sauce, filled with shrimp or beef!.
Spare ribs in black bean sauce
Chicken feet, if you are adventurous!. In Chinese, that's 'Fung Jwah' which literally means "Phoenix Talons"
For dessert, mango pudding!.
Be aware, at a dim sum place, you get to choose what kind of tea they serve you!. Most Chinese restaurant tea is Oolong!. I recommend Chrysanthemum (Chinese Jyu Hua) or Jasmine (Shyang Pyen)
Avoid any sort of sticky rice, in a lotus leaf, or "eight treasure rice"!. This stuff fills you up, kind of defeats the purpose of leaving room for as many different morsels as possible!. For the same reason, don't get too many fried things!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you eat all the pork dumplings that you want there won't be any room for more! I can not bear shark fin either in dumplings or soup!.!.but beggers purses are delicious ( prawns and vegetables in wanton wrappers)!. Just look at the names of things and descriptions where available and try anything that has a main ingredient you would be happy to eat!.then get a little adventurous and sample something you are less sure of!. it's nice to try something new but you should never risk spoiling the meal for the sake of adventure!.
p!.s!. can I come too!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
