Answers:
I am Chinese!. I remember when I was 3, my aunt made me hold the chopsticks the CORRECT way! When we were sitting at the dinner table, if I use it the LAZY way, she will correct me right of way!Www@FoodAQ@Com

You should ask this in Y/A travel, in the China section!. Someone from China might answer!. Here, you're getting some good opinions!. My wife was Korean and the baby first used a spoon but was onto chopsticks by the time she was 2, but that's a mixed race, mixed culture household!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm half korean, so I've been using chopsticks since i can remember!. Like, it's normal for us in America to use forks and spoons, but in asia (Korea, Japan, China, etc!.!.!.) chopsticks are as much of a choice!.

Like at home, I never use forks and I rarely use spoons!. It's just culture!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

They will often be fed with a small Chinese style spoon, (used by adults for rice / soups) or fed by parents using chopsticks!. Then they naturally progress to chopsticks as soon as possible!.

Living there 6 years!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

They use cutlery and then when they are older they start using chopsticks!.

That's when the problems start!. They start hanging around street corners, carrying chopsticks and they are not frightened of using them either!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

They use forks and spoons when they are young but when they are old enough to learn (around 6/7) they get taught by their parents!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

They presume they use a spoon as most of a babies diet consists of mush, and then move on to chopsticks at about 3 - 4Www@FoodAQ@Com

I read somwhere that they start teaching the kids around 4 and 1/2 years of age!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

They probably do!. Thats why even young children from China are better than me, and I'm like 4 times their age!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

wow!.!.!.i wonder that 2!
i think at a certain age the parents teach them how to use them!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
