I want to dry out some chilli pods for storage, how is this done please?!

Question: I want to dry out some chilli pods for storage, how is this done please!?
Answers:
it depends on the type of chillies used!.
The small red, or green Thai chillies are left out in the sun for a few days in a single layer, and will keep in a dried state for well over 1 year!.

If leaving out in the sun is not possible then use a food dehydrator, or a very low oven temp!. They should still be plyable not brittle!.

New Mexico red chillies are strung and left to air dry!. time depends on humidity!.

Remember the larger the chillie pod the longer to dry!.
store whole or pound to a chillir flake size, save some seeds for next years crop!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Keep in mind not all dry well!. Jalapeno and Serrano do not unless split and/or dried in a dehydrator!. Most can be strung up and hung to dry!. Some people use a needle and thread to string them!. I prefer to tie the thread around the stems and just hang them in up!. Small ones like Japones and De Arbol I have dried on a sheet of paper and also on a baking sheet in the oven at 200 deg!. turning occasionally!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

if you want to dry them out to plant the seeds, leave them on a warm windowsill until when you shake them they rattle!. when this happens, cut them open and plant the seeds!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
