Indian condiment for a guy who doesn't like lime pickles?!

Question: Indian condiment for a guy who doesn't like lime pickles!?
Too sour for this trailer park dude!. I like hot stuff, although I mix it up with some mango chutney now and then!. We've got an Asian store nearby and I see jars of Indian pickles and side dishes to go with my curry but I don't know what's what!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Mango pickle is awesome, especially if you can find it "extra hot!." Mixed pickle is also good!. I don't find either of those to be sour!. Although I do love some good and sour lime pickle!. :-)

If you want to make your own pickle, it is very easy!. Here's a recipe that's very good and spicy!. It's not oily like an achar, but it is very tasty!.

Carrot Pickle

2 (or more) medium carrots, peeled and cut into strips about 2” long

4 serrano or jalepeno peppers, also cut into 2” strips

? tsp salt (or more to taste)

? tsp chili powder (or more to taste)

? tsp tumeric

1 tsp slightly crushed mustard seeds

2 Tbsp white vinegar

Mix all ingredients well and let stand one hour!. Serve with curry!.

My mom makes that all the time to eat with chicken curry!. It's so easy it's one of the first Indian dishes I made on my own!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

a nice garlic pickle might do you although they are a bit of an acquired taste!.

alternatively why not steer away from the pickle arena and visit relish land, a nice onion and chili relish made by chopping onions and chilis and tomatos very finley and adding lemon juice is a great side dish for indian food!. or a chutney like coconut chutney which has a surprising taste or tamarind for a sour flavour!.

Personally i love pickles, anything hot and sour is a winner for me, but i have found that brands do vary a lot so its best to give a few things a try or go to an indian restaurant and ask to try a few new condiments and then ask them what brands they buy!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Try mango pickle!."Mango Punjabi" by khana khajana is good!.or "Bedekar" mango pickle!.Guests at my house love these!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Try green chilli or Amla(gooseberry) are hot and good!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Try hot mango pickle, not too sour but hot in spices!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I am a former chef from Canada for a the heat you have to look to one with the name Bengali on it chutney or others, for me here in T!.O, I am an achar fan with the whole hot peppers in it, it come in a tin, not to sour, a bit on the mustardy side as they preserve it in mustard oil, hot garlic pickle or mixed pickle, the labels will indicate there heat levels, and hot to some is mild to others, it is something you have to just look for and try until you find one you like!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
