Soondubu recipe - looking for the ultimate recipe (vegetarian)?!
can anyone give me their ULTIMATE soondubu recipe!? I don't eat fish or any other type of meat!. I have tried all types of ingredients across the past few years - from denjang paste to the korean chili powder to vegetarian broth to all of those combined all with mushrooms (the way maangchi on youtube makes it)!. I still cannot get the wonderful flavor I find in restaurants!. YES, I am sure the restaurants put fish in their broth, but at home we don't cook meat!. Who has a recipe worthy of sharing!!?! :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

i love soondubu! but the wonderful flavor found in restaurants is obtained through anchovy sauce/salted shrimp stock, and since you cook vegetarian you'll never be able to acquire that hearty stew flavor!. however, different types of mushrooms may help add that meatiness without adding real meat, so try combining oyster, enoki, and shitake mushrooms in a pot with some kombu and water!. Boil until mushrooms are plump and firm!. Then, take out the mushrooms and panfry it in a pot with some red pepper (like the recipe in maangchi's blog, but use mushrooms instead of beef)!. then add the stock, and then the tofu!.
