Has anyone ever heard of caldo verde with pork ribs instead of chorizo?!
When I was in Tokyo, I ate at a Brazilian place that served us some sort of stew that seems to resemble caldo verde, but it had pork ribs instead of chorizo!. also, the potatoes weren't pureed as in some of the other recipes I've seen!. Any clue!? It was right around the corner from gas panic in Roppongi!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Caldo Verde is a portuguese dish, not brazilian!. I live in Portugal and I actually made that soup today XD
Its made with mashed potatoes to thicken the soup but many people just use bite sized cooked potatoes!.
also, chouri?o (or chorizo to you) is the typical ingredient to add in but the brazilians add pork ribs because they don't have access to unexpensive chourizo, but it's still quite nice that way!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Caldo means 'soup'!. Verde is 'green!.' So, caldo verde is green soup!. It matters not what is in it, although it is traditionally made with pork!. If you liked it, good!. If not, please do not consume such from that Brazilian place again!. Find a place that serves what you like and frequent it!. Never heard of caldo verde with pureed potatoes in it, tho, and I'm a Sonoran cook, my step mother is a great mexican cook, also!. We just chunk our potatoes in bite sized pieces into our caldo de queso, or whatever kind of soup we happen to be making!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
