Why is chinese food a american food in?!

Question: Why is chinese food a american food in!?
Answers:
I'm a former chef and I think the truth of the matter is most popular ethnic food is American food!. Adapted to fit American palates, most food we eat that is supposedly Italian, Mexican, Chinese, etc!.!.!. are quite a bit different from the original!.

Real chinese food would be far less acceptable among most people who are looking for the syrupy General Tso's chicken!. Real Italian food isn't just red sauce and white sauce!. Real Mexican food isn't bathed in cheese and served with sour cream!.

However, in my travels, I've found that "ethnic" food takes on characteristics of the country they are in!. I've eaten Chinese food in Sri Lanka!.!.!.and it's nothing like US Chinese food or Chinese Chinese food!.

Little mom and pop dives are your best bet for authentic food!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

They have adapted their recipes to produce that is available in the US and to the US tastes!.

I am certain that if you were to buy a Chinese meal in New York, and the same meal in the likes of San Diego, they will be different to suit the different cultures!.
An Italian American and a Mexican American will have different tastes in food, but they will have a Chinese if they wish!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

To add to anubis!.!.!.'s response, chinese food is also very different within China!. Often in North America you will find Sichuan-inspired food, americanized!. Some areas eat a lot of fish, while you don't see much fish in our Chinese food!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
