Are Gyros Greek food?!
Answers:
Gyros couldn't be more Greek !
Well I am from Greece and i'm telling you, it's the most popular food there.
Gyros is most definitely Greek and so delicious! :)
Contains meat, tomatoes, onions, and tzatziki sauce, and is served with or inside pita bread.
In Greece, the meat is usually pork, occasionally chicken or veal. In Athens, and most of Greece, a "pita gyro" will contain tzatziki, tomato, onion and fried potatoes in addition to the meat. A pita gyro with pork will be served with tzatziki as a dressing, whereas the chicken dressings vary but are most often a variant on mayonnaise mixed with mustard, called "σω?" or "sauce" in Greek.
In the USA, gyros are usually made from lamb or a combination of beef and lamb, sometimes chicken. The bread resembles a Greek 'plain' pita. Traditional accompaniments are tomato, onion, and tzatziki, sometimes called "cucumber", "yogurt", or "white" sauce. Some use plain sour cream in lieu of tzatziki.
ENjoy!!
First of all gyros is not are... because it is uncountable!
And secondly, of course and it is Greek food... but before you try it i suggest you make sure that it is well cooked because some cookers are pretty reckless and serve raw meat istead of gyros.
