Uninspiring Chinese Food?!

There is no such thing as 'Chinese' food. China is a very large country and the cuisine varies from region to region.
When Chinese Restaurants first came to the UK, the owners were mainly from Hong Kong and Guandong (Canton) where the cuisine is fairly mild flavoured. They fell foul to UK peasants telling them that they didn't like this or that and started to adapt their menus.
Since people in the UK like a dessert (or, better, a pud) they introduced banana fritters!
I'm sure that there are restaurants in the UK which serve, for example, Sichuan food. This is spicy and hot! It is certainly not 'uninteresting'.
When I was in Hong Kong for 2 years with a group of Europeans, we avoided 'Chinese' restaurants where the majority of the clientele were other ex-pats or tourists. We went to restaurants where the majority of the customers were Chinese. When in foreign parts I stick to this principle. If you want to taste authentic food, then look through the window at the people eating there before you look at the menu.
why dont you train as a chef specialising in asian cuisine then you can can slag them off haha!
