Question: What does eel sauce taste like?
It looks like Teriyaki sauce, but most likely doesn't taste like it. LOL

Kabayaki sauce (Japanese BBQ eel sauce) is very similar to teriyaki sauce.

Differences:
Kabayaki sauce was brushed on before cooking and it was thinner (watery). Teriyaki sauce was reduced and thickened.

Many places in the North America brush teriyaki sauce on unagi (BBQ freshwater eel) after it was grilled with brushed on kabayaki sauce.
