Don't listen to Emgee, the person is obviously one of those ignorant North-East types who shut their eyes to the rest of the world, and don't understand why their children are absolutely FLEEING the rust belt of I-95 for the southeast.
In Greensboro:
-Bianca's, on Spring Garden, probably the closest to authentic Italian food
-Positano's, on Lawndale, a little closer to the mainstream, but good ingrediants make this a yummy restaurant.
-Riva's, on Greene street, This is the kind of restaurant that "ignorant Emgee" wouldn't think we have in NC, the recipes are based off of one very talented chef, and the restaurant is very "mom and pop" feel.
-Salvino Cucina, on Battleground, some people think it's the best Italian in the city, I don't agree.
-Cafe Pasta, on State Street, where Michael Jordan used to come for Italian food when he visited Greensboro
Enjoy!
Living in Greensboro now for 10 years, love it MUCH MORE than the North-East.
We enjoy Villa Rosa off Wendover in Greensboro. We have also never had a problem getting seated right away.

That's an oxymoron. Authentic Italian restaurants in the backwoods of North Carolina? Might as well ask for a pastrami on rye.
