If that was Georgia, USA then that was during the Civil War and food would've been scarce. You will have to go to a Civil War Museum or other museum, contact the Tourism Bureau in Atlanta, Georgia and get some info from them, There might even be a Civil War Re-enactment group that you can talk to about such things. American history is so fascinating.

Have you never HEARD of the AMERIKAN CIVIL WAR. There was almost NO FOOD AT ALL in Georga in 1863... PEOPLE WERE STARVING and about the only food they had to live on was PEANUTS which they called GUBER PEAS.. otherwise, most of the crops has been destroyed by 1863.. Peaple had already eaten their farm animals by 1863 and meny people were BOILING THEIR SHOES and their BELTS and any OTHER piece of LEATHER they could find.

It was a WAR ZONE or don't you KNOW that?
