what type of beans are used in the Argentine dish, carbonlia?!
Answers:
Most recipes I've seen merely say "fresh beans". Whatever that is supposed to mean. But I have seen one that call for lima beans (yuck), others say black beans. Black beans sound better, but I would suggest using kidney or whichever you prefer. Good luck!
Carbonlia is much like American Chili so the type of beans used varies according to personal taste.
For a traditional Carbonlia, use fresh beans and soak them, rather than using the canned ones.
The usual ingredients:
■fresh ground beef
■fresh beans
■pinch of cinnamon
■garlic salt
■salt and pepper
■onions (chopped)
■whole peeled tomatoes (chopped)
■green and red peppers
■paprika
Good luck!
PLEASE note
Some beans contain "toxins" Red kidney beans for one. IT IS IMPORTANT that they are cooked in rapidly boiling water before adding to any dish this removes the toxins. They can cause quite serious stomach cramps and worse.
