Try Gyros for a first taste of Greek. Try the tzatziki (yogurt/garlic/cucumber sauce), the "Greek Salad" with fresh tomatoes, olives and feta, and, if you like, the baked feta dish.

If possible, get a combination plate with different grilled meats so you can try a bit of everything and see what you like best. Baklava is a nice dessert.

Greek food is so delicious, it's one of my favorite cuisines in the world.

Enjoy! :)

Try it all. It's so good. Greek/mediterranean food is probably my favorite cuisine. Except maybe Dolmadas I find the grape leaves to have too much of a tinny taste. maybe from the pickling process. the filling is quite tasty though.

I like spanikopita, and this lasagna like thing with meat and potatoes.. Mousaka. Sooo good. and then there is thing that is like a greek pig in a blanket, but so much better. Its like ground meat in a pastry shell with spices and herbs.

Not all mediterranean is greek though.

I can't believe no one mentioned to try hummus and falafels!!! I LOVE Greek food and I guess its because its so hearty and doesn't always require meat. I'm not a vegetarian by any means however, I do like to be a "meat freer" as Rachael Ray says from time to time. Not to mention, it is very healthy for you but I agree with another person who replied, baklava is the best! I personally LOVE the pistachio one, its the only one I've had but I don't think I'll ever want another type of baklava. Good luck and I hope you enjoy it!!!

There are at least 30 kinds of Mediterranean food. Places like Gibraltar on the west or Israel and Lebanon on the east all have Med food. Many consider only Greek cuisine to be Mediterranean.. This is an error. Whatever type you choose, you cannot go wrong. It is all delicious and healthy. Good eating.

Mediterranean food tends to be flavoured with spices and herbs. As for Israel then the Russian influence is strong. Pizza pasta tiramasu grilled fish of many types salads olives olive oil all are from that area.

order lamb, then anything else would be great, just try to order the best - since this is your first taste of the Mediterranean cuisine

Italian, Spanish and Southern French - are also Mediterranean cuisine

all italian, greek, and even many turkish and Israeli foods are considered Mediterranean... so it really depends where you are getting your food

try the seafood... anything with clams

idk
