Chinese style butcher block?!
I live in the san francisco bay area. Where can I find a butcher block like the ones they use in many chinese delis? The round really thick ones.

They are a slice of hardwood like oak, almond or maple that has been finished smooth on both sides and bark removed. You could make your own if you can find one or can get a person that deals with orchards or firewood to give you a slice from the base of a big tree.
Did you try Chinatown ? They should have them there.
