I think cabbage would have to be cooked to be bottled or canned. Fresh cabbage would come in a bag.

It sounds like it is sauerkraut since it is by Kuhne who are Sauerkraut producers in Germany.
Sauerkraut is a dish that is not cooked, nor really cook able, though you can warm it up in a frying pan to make it better. So it is not cooked, but it is not meant to be cooked.
Its good stuff, enjoy, great with a traditional German meal of sausages (weisswurst if you can find it) and boiled potatoes.

the only way to preserve anything in a can or bottle is to process it and that involves cooking it to a certain temperature so force air out and create a vacuum seal. Bacteria does not grow well if at all in an airless environment.
That is how canning is done.
That also means that anything in a bottle or can is cooked; it has to be. No way to heat those cans or bottles to temps high enough without cooking the contents.

EDIT: saurkraut is cookable.
I have canned upwards of 100 quarts of homemade kraut. So did my mother and grandmother and every other old German/Russian relative I have that made saurkraut.

Yup it's cooked. Open that sucker up and put it on a Hot Dog with mustard!!! YUM!!!
