Where is lemon meringue pie from?!


Question: Where is lemon meringue pie from?
For my gcse food tech I have to make a variety of dishes and I want to do this one, but it has to fit my specification of multicultural foods - Any culture is fine I just need to know which! Thanks!
Could you also please tell me the origin of a mousse cake too please?! haha!

According to the food historians, lemon flavored custards, puddings and pies have been enjoyed since Medieval times. While Renaissance European cooks used whisked egg-whites in several dishes, it was not until the 17th century that they perfected meringue. Lemon meringue pie, as we know it today, is a 19th century product.
