What is the name of this indian bread?!

Question: What is the name of this indian bread?
I went to an indian resteraunt and we were served this delicious bread as an appetizer. It wasn't a loaf, it was more of a bubble. The whole thing was filled with air and if you stabbed it with a fork it would deflate. the actual bread that we ate was paper thin and we ate it with an indian sauce. I would like to know what type of dish this is called so i can find the recipe and make it myself. Anyone know the name?

Naan bread!

Welcome, I am your tour guide.

Indian restaurants are well known for delicious curries, there are many types of curries. From Beef, Chicken, Goat, Lamb, Fish and Prawns. Indians make their dishes with a lot of herbs and spices. One main tasty ingredient is either coconut milk or thick cream. You can also have it hot or mild flavour of chilli.

Now, the Nann bread. It goes very well with dipping into the curries "whichever". There are many variety of nann bread. My favourite is garlic nann. There are , plain nann, garlic nann, cheese nann, cheese and garlic nann. Also Parishwari (potatoes nann), and others.

Through my experiences I like Tikka and Lamb cut lets alot. They are my favourite. In the futre I will start trying out new curries. But I like it hot.

Oh, those were Puris, very simple to make at home;
Knead wheat flour into a dough, add some oil and a pinch of salt while kneading;
keep aside for an hour, heat refined oil, or clarified butter in a deep utensil, called kadhai, roll small balls into round shape puris, and deep fry till golden-brown, and remove in a plate;
serve hot with potato vegetable, kheema or any curry.
if rolled properly, they puff while deep frying.

Practice makes a man perfect.

Maybe it was naan?

You can find some recipes in the Internet, but it will NEVER taste as good as in the restaurant. Naans are cooked in tandoor (clay oven). This process is really amazing,

I've tried many ready made naans and they do not taste like a real naan.

Hope this helps.

Married to Indian guy and Indian food lover.

Maybe either Naan or Parantha?

Sounds like puris... If they were small (golf ball size), slightly crunchy and then you dipped them down into sauce like a little cup, then they were puris. But if they were larger like a puffy tortilla, then they were probably paratha or naan.

Puris.
