Indian dessert in a restaurant - forgot the name? crispy coated dough balls with fruit and custard?!

Question: Indian dessert in a restaurant - forgot the name? crispy coated dough balls with fruit and custard?
We just had lunch at an Indian buffet and my husband had a dessert that he keeps raving about. He said that it was some kind of fried dough ball with a crispy/crunchy coating and you could put a vanilla custard with fruit on it. I may not be describing it properly since I didn't have any of it and just wrote down his description. And it was definitely not gulab jamun. Does anyone know what the name of the dish is?

Answers:

I would have said gulab jamun, but since you said it was definitely NOT GJ, then...It sounds like rasmalai (except not crunchy on outside):
