Why are chinese waiters so forward about getting their tips?!

Question: Why are chinese waiters so forward about getting their tips?
Went to a chinese buffet and wasnt going to tip because the meal was over priced in my opinion. He did remove one play from my table and brought me water. At check out I paid via crdit card and left the tip blank and he told me to leave a tip or I could pay him a tip in cash. Anyway I ended up leaving him 1.25 in quarters.

I am a server myself. My salary is about $4.00/hour and most of them goes to tax. So tip is our main income.
Over priced food is not server's fault. If you didn't like the food there, you should have talked to manager. At the buffet, waiter may not look like work a lot for you. But they refill the food, clean up the table, and so many things for the customers to enjoy. And at a lot of places, waiter have to share the tip with bus boys and kitchen staff.
Only when you don't like "waiter's service", you can punish us for not giving tip. In that case, please let us know the reason.
I understand why chinese waiter was so forward because many people don't leave a tip at the buffet. We don't like to chase customers, but we don't want to work for free either. You won't be happy if your company doesn't pay your salary.
Please leave some tips when you go restaurant or buffet.

The reason why waiters from all restaurants wont do their job is because they already know the customer might not have money like that, they hate their job, and they are lazy so they dont work hard for the money.. also if you go to a better restaurant like a upper class place you should run in to those issues and you dont have to look like a A$$ for leaving a sh!tty tip, beside that you should have talk to the mangers of these place and let them know what is your issue some times in nicer places they will comp. the meal for you... but to get real if you when to a chinese buffet and had a chinese waiters then thats on you because most places their fake chineses food id cheap any ways thats why they do carry out and delivery so they dont really do the waiters thing but, if you go to a place like a buffet type of place they dont want you to think that just cause you paid for your meal that their service is included so they might hint to you they might need the money so next time be the bigger person if your going to leave quarters behind then also have the balls to comfont them also most waiters only get paid 0 -20 dollar hourly and as for tip its up to them. im not saying she was right just talk to management, but your not right either thats wasnt classy of you and you should learn to change these bad habits while your still young. good luck

If the buffet was overpriced why did you go eat there? You shouldn't punish the waiter for your mistake. Even if you didn't enjoy the food it's not the watiers fault. He probably doesn't make a lot of money bc his salary is based on tips. If he did his job you should tip him properly. $1.25 is just an insult.

Waiters and waitresses at buffet places don't get paid very much. At most locations, the pay was worse than regular restaurants. So, tips really mean a lot to them. Since this question was asked around the end of the month, I'm guessing the person is probably a little desperate.

I always tip, even at Chinese buffets because the waiters bring you drinks, and clear your plates and keep the buffet filled with food.

He was very forward, though. I would have said something to his manager.

most of the waiters and all in these restaurants only get paid by tips. they want their tips so that they can have more than a few bucks at the end of the day to pay bills with.

They need the money to pay for their 12 kids.

Never leave a spot empty on the tip.
Cross it out.
