Not when I was in Italy. It has a very thin and crisp crust, and it's lighter on toppings and sauce than American pizza. Typically, it will have more of a tangy fruity flavor to it, with a sharper cheese blend instead of the very mild processed mozzarella found here. A lot of Italian pizzerias will blend fresh mozzarella with asagio, parmigiana, and feta for a more complex flavor. The toppings are sometimes a bit different as well. Black olives, seafood, artichoke and large tomato chunks are fairly common for toppings.

Depends where in Italy you have your pizza. It tastes like a rats *** in Venice for example. In Naples instead it is heavenly (depending on where you go).
Yea, you have awful pie in Italy especially if you go to one of the tourist towns but mostly it is 100 times better then anywhere else in the world.

Have been in and out of Italy for many years.

It depends on where you go every ones tastes are never the same i have pizza in rome and it was great, i had a pizza in a Sardinian pizza place and i did not care for it but my friends loved it. so you have to taste for your self and remember in italy they use more olive oil and less sauce than we do its more dough and a hint of sauce which turns most americans off because we are use to more flavors, cheese, and sauces, meats on our pies

Historically pizza comes from the Middle East and Turkey. Italian pizzas have not been adulterated with pineapple (Hawaiian pizza) and have a much thinner bread base than copies. I prefer lahmacun, which is the Turkish variety and has a really thin bread base.

depends which store is it.
If you are talking about Neapolitan-pizza and you didn't liked it, it's just that you probably prefer the American pizza stuffed with bacon and ground beef, fake mozzarella, with very little tomato sauce

No, it's no truet. The pizza here is excellent unless you go to one of the fast food pizza by the slice places in the train stations. I don't eat pizza when I go home to the US unless I go to a Mom & Pop place and even those can't compete with the pizza here.

food is always preference but pizza in Italy has super thin crust. Thinner than the thinest American pizza u have ever had. Who told you it was awful doesn't like that thin of a pizza

It's the best frickin pizza ever!! The original!!
I'm not a big fan of pizza, but in Italy - it's ten times nicer than store bought :)

Not at all. It's really good. The best pizzas I ever ate were in Italy. They invented pizza.

Have you tried the Yank "pizzas"? Grease on a crust.
