Beijing food is Jing cuisine 京 菜 that is popular in northern part of China while Hong Kong food is mostly Yue cuisine 粤 菜 that is popular in south eastern China. Due to difference in geography and climate even the staple is different, Beijing people tend to eat more wheat products in the form of wheat noodle, buns made from wheat flour, many dishes are spicy hot, more greasy. There isn't that much sea food on their menu. The staple diet of Hong Kong people mostly contains rice products including rice noodle and a lot of snacks, appetizers made with rice flour. Hong Kong people also like seafood a lot, they have a lighter palate, and not so much spicy food. Hong Kong people are famous for stewing soups, they make soups with meat and/or herbs that simmer for hours which is a part of their medicinal cuisine. Dim Sum is also a specialty of Hong Kong cuisine, the wide variety of tasty little dishes of food is one of the best in the world.



Beijing being in Northern China is usually spicier and has more wheat based goods.
