White rice is never bad and every culture has different eating habits and lifestyle.
Eating rice itself moderately will not make one fat, sometimes its depending on what one eat with it, ones personal lifestyle and ones other eating habits.
Rice is rich in carbohydrates
Does not contain harmful fats, cholesterol or sodium
Good source of vitamins and minerals like niacin, vitamin D, calcium, fibre, iron, thiamine and riboflavin.
Rice abounds in resistant starch, which reaches the bowel in undigested form. It aids the growth of useful bacteria for normal bowel movements.
Nothing is *bad* for you when it's eaten in moderation. You can live a very healthy life even if you have a burger and fries from McDonald's once a year. White rice isn't unhealthy. Over-consumption of a starchy, low nutrient, high calorie food like white rice is unhealthy.
For example, you can have an Oreo cookie every once and awhile and be ok. The problem is the people who eat one Oreo, then another, and then the package is gone. Who's fault is that? Not Oreo cookies, I assure you. Nor is it the consumption of white rice that keep "Asians healthy and in good shape."
Asian countries, prepare rice to eat separately from the fish and veggies they consume. Rarely is rice ever served with their main course. Serving white rice with Asian food is an American custom.
White rice is the name given to milled rice that has had its husk, bran, and germ removed. This is done largely to prevent spoilage and to extend the storage life of the grain. After milling, the rice is polished, resulting in a seed with a bright, white, shiny appearance.
The polishing process removes important nutrients. A diet based on unenriched white rice leaves people vulnerable to the neurological disease beriberi, due to a deficiency of thiamine (vitamin B1). White rice is often enriched with some of the nutrients stripped from it during its processing.[1] Enrichment of white rice with B1, B3, and iron is required by law in the United States.
At various times, starting in the 19th century, brown rice and wild rice have been advocated as healthier alternatives.[2] The bran in brown rice contains significant dietary fiber and the germ contains many vitamins and minerals. (See whole grain.)
As with all natural foods, the precise nutritional composition of rice varies slightly depending on the variety, soil conditions, environmental conditions and types of fertilizers.
Typically 100 g of uncooked rice produces around 240-260 g of cooked grains.

Japanese cuisine is considered one of the healthiest diets in the world. Rice is one of the main staples along with fresh fish, seasonal vegetables and soup. The amount of rice eaten is only a small amount and is usually eaten at the end of the meal. The Japanese diet also contains a lot of Super Foods such as Nori (seaweed), Miso, Natto (fermented soy beans), Tofu and Green Tea.

American cought up too much of whole grain craze.
American got so use to consume enomus amount of food,
That's make us bigger than we supposed to be.
It's not about white rice.
It's about how much you eat.
We eat white rice almost every day. All of us are healthy.
Moderation & meal balance is the key.
No one eats just white rice. its balanced out with pulses, beans, veg & meats.
so theres no harm.
Tips: Its always best to wash d rice 3 times before cooking to clear off any dirt & also extra starch.
It's a lot of carbs and little other vitamins. Asians eat a lot of rice but they don't eat a lot at each meal. White rice isn't so 'bad' as it isn't 'very good' for you. Being thin and in 'good shape' doesn't necessarily mean healthy and well nourished either.
Rice isn't unhealthy. My family eats it everyday. Everyone of us are still healthy and no one is overweight.
But like all foods if you eat way to much and you don't exercise then it'll become unhealthy.
Its the way its cooked white steamed/boiled rice is better than fried however brown rice is the best as there is more fibre in it and it keeps you fuller for longer
genetically asians are mostly healthy and in good shape
Ever heard of sumo wrestlers ? Hahaha (:
