Its a kind of shellfish (shell muscle) which is similar to clams and oysters. The flavor is sweet and delicate. Usually served with mild sauce of cream, cheese or butter that will not overpower the subtle flavor of the scallop itself.

There is also a dried version Conpoy or dried scallop taste is rich and umami due to its high content of various free amino acids, such as glycine, alanine, and glutamic acid. Usually used in rice congee, stir fries, stews and sauces.



It's a mollusk, like an oyster is as well. But scallops taste superb (in my taste).

or it's also seafood in a white or newburg sauce baked in a ramekin w/ crumbs on top.
