Answers:

Agreeing with the answer above, I also suspect that catfish is less desirable in other countries. Some cultures have a "thing" against bottom feeders.
I've had several foreign friends look at me like I'm crazy for eating catfish.
I wish I could suggest a substitute, but unfortunately there's nothing like a good old Oklahoma catfish.
BTW, there's a bit of a sport here in this state involving just jumping in the water and grabbing the suckers by hand.
lol
It's called "Noodlin"
Rather deadly dangerous, but a straight forward way to get your food!

The rivers in most of Britain are not large enough to sustain catfish to grow old enough & big enough to be "good eatin'"....though I see no good reason (other than laziness) why someone should not be growing "farm-raised" catfish in Blighty....

(If a little light went off in your head just then, you may be a millionaire five years from now....try not to forget me if that happens!)

Try Harrod's of London- seafood section, wot?!

Sport

Pike used to be cooked but now they put them back
