Question: Do you use other things in a hotdog bun rather than a hotdog?
If so, what is it/are they?

Answers:

Yes, if you out of regular sliced bread you can make great peanut butter and jelly sandwich if you toast the bun for a few minutes of eckridge sausage sandwich or, a nice breakfast sandwich. so many thing you can do with hot dog buns

Koreans bulgogi sandwich = bulgogi (Korean BBQ beef) in a hotdog bun.

Japanese yakisoba pan = hot dog bun + yakisoba (stir-fried noodles).

Japanese also put cut tonkatsu (deep fried porkchop) strips in hotdog buns sometimes. In recent years, Japanese started putting spaghetti into hotdog buns too. http://www.tune-in-tokyo.com/wp-content/…

People in Taiwan put Taiwanese sausage in a hotdog bun too.

Various Asian countries put different salads into hot dog buns and turned them into a sandwich. I'm not sure if UK's lobster salad roll was influenced by the Asian versions or the other way around.

The most interesting one - Monkey sandwich aka banana dog. Peanut butter, jam, and banana in a hot dog bun! http://www.simplyhomemade.ca/recipes/Toa…

The only one I've not tried = Japanese spaghetti pan. The others actually tasted pretty nice. Well, certain versions of Asian salad rolls aren't that nice but acceptable. :)

Here in New England, we use grilled hot dog buns for lobster salad rolls - I guess they don't make these sandwiches much in other parts of the U.S. or other countries but they're pretty amazing.

Other sausages...like bratwurst, cheddarwurst, Italian sausages (hot ones are best!)...
If I have some left over, I even make them into garlic toast with butter and garlic powder. I have even eaten them with peanut butter and jelly; after all, they are basically bread!

Skewered cut-up veggies, grilled, then put in the hot dog bun w. a little olive oil and oregano.
