Is it safe to store Kimchi in plastic container?!

Question: Is it safe to store Kimchi in plastic container?
would it be dangerous like storing olive oil in plastic bottles? is there any chemical reaction if i keep Kimchi in containers other than glass jars? thanks

Answers:

Yes, it is safe.

I've purchased bulk package kimchi that came in a big plastic bag inside a plastic tub/bucket from local Korean markets. They are perfectly fine. The reason why there's a plastic bag inside the plastic container is because the color of the kimchi will turn the plastic container red; the plastic container will also smell like kimchi for quite a long time even after repeated wash.

You can, but the plastic will absorb the smell and discolor. Which just means that you will only want to use that container for kimchi only.

BTW - kimchi is safe to eat. Thousands of Koreans eat it every day.

It's safe. I purchase kimchi already in plastic containers at Hmart and there is no problem. I discard the container after use.

That's a horrible way to treat your child. I'm reporting you to child protection authorities.

I recommend a glass jar!
The kimchee might dissolve the plastic container!!
