Question: History of Bruschetta?
Bruschetta?
What is it, how do you make it and eat it?
I've been making Foccia bread for half a year now, and my wife never liked it umtil last night. I made a batch, (2 cups bread flour, 1 cup semolina), and topped it with some feta cheese and some artichoke bruschetta that she had picked up on the sale rack. She wolfed it down!
I think I better learn something about bruschetta if I am going to keep making foccia bread!

Bruschetta are individual slices of bread (usually a white or French type bread) that's grilled or toasted, then rubbed with a clove of raw garlic and sprinkled with salt. Either before or after the toasting/grilling, it's brushed with olive oil.

Often there are toppings too --tomatoes + mozzarella + basil is a popular combination, but the toppings can also be various cooked veggies or veggie mixes (some of which can be purchased premade like your "artichoke" mix or olive tapenade, ec), or even meats or other cheeses...lots of possibilities!

They're served as snacks usually, or as appetizers, or on the side of a meal.

It sounds like you made a version using your focaccia bread instead of toasted white French bread, and in fact things like those ingredients are put on top of various kinds of breads and crackers in all kinds of cultures. In the case of focaccia bread, it often has all the flavorings and veggies, etc, inside the bread as it bakes but they can also be used as toppings (then baked with the focaccia or added afterwards, I think).
