It is just a 'rough chop' meaning that you don't want it chopped up real fine. Pretty much run your knife through a few times instead of pulverizing it.



It is to chop in large,irregular pieces more than a 1/4 inch in size.

It means you are chopping the item small, but not too small. Think smaller than chunks!



Many things, like herbs as an example, or eggs for a salad etc



that means you chop it to where the pieces are pretty big.
