Their natural diet consists of seaweed and others such marine plants, but they supplement this diet with fruits. However studies have found that the Indian Star Tortoise is capable of eating most forms of meat. Tortoises living in the wild are unable to hunt or kill animals to eat, but research shows that cage bred tortoises that have been fed meat tend to be stronger and larger than wild varieties. Recommended forms of meat are buffalo and venison, as Tortoises tend to enjoy chewier meats.
