Ummmmm.... There was no America in the middle ages.

ground up wheat and corn to make flat breads...
stews made up of the local animals... in USA they might have made buffalo stew or chili out in the country.. in Africa, it might be water buffalo stew or whatnot... they have access to roots and vegetables in Africa also...
