the taste itself is hard to describe just like anything else. Its actually quite a plain tasting food in my opinion, rice of course does not have much taste as well as does the fish. The avocado which was in the sushi i tried gave it the only distinct taste i could get from it. Be sure to put soy sauce and wasabi on it.

It was a great experience for me and i would recommend it for anyone. Variety is the spice of life!

Varies on what kind of sushi it is.
My recommendation is that you go to a traditional Japanese restaurant, explain that you've not had it before and see if they can make an assorted plate as opposed to just one kind ... Oh and go easy on the wasabe (hot sauce) if you're not used to hot / spicy food substances. Bon Appetit!

Sushi taste is peculiar and very hard to compare it with anything.
The only and best way to know it is by eating it and then you may like it or not.
It might as well be something a whole new taste you've never experienced before.
Even among us Japanese, there are some people who don't like it like my wife.

Fresh sushi or sashimi should have a clean, delicate, light taste and should have no fishy smell.

it's a bt sweet, a bit salty, tangy, fresh and creamy ( the rice), and the filling is swet, salt, sour and chewy, it's pretty nice. It isn't overpowering, in fact it's almost boring, but in a nice way.

It's not exactly passionate food.

What kind of sushi? There are many types and they taste different depending on what's inside.
