Answers:

Freeze Drying is done in a air and temperature controlled chamber, first the product is frozen but much colder than the normal freezers work, down to minus 18 d C, then the air is extracted and the food is then dried like in a heat based dehydrator, this not only removes the air and water but renders the foods shelf stable for years, you just rehydrate with hot water to make them reform, like camp food you would take on a caravan trip are done this way, so all you do is add hot water to make them reform into a stew, spaghetti or other items, some coffee to is done this way, you would have the Nestle's Taster's Choice brand in Australia, it is freeze dried, this method of preserving is more gentle and retains the natural flavours and colours of items, thus making them more nutritious in the end
