Have you ever eaten roadkill before?!

Question: Have you ever eaten roadkill before?
and what animal was it before it got run over?

Answers:

Yes - venison, and all the time. My local sheriff has my number on speed dial. If the animal is "fresh" and cleanly killed it is the truly responsible, and economic, thing to do.

Once I actually arrived just as the sheriff did, and unbeknown to the sheriff the animal was still alive. When he tried to clear it from the roadway the deer hooved him ripping open his trousers near the crotch. Needless to say the sheriff proceeded to bust a cap.

I used to eat at a place called the Roadkill Grill where the specialty was roadkill of the day. However, it was things that might have been roadkill like venison, rattlesnake, ... rather than things that actually were roadkill. The recipes featured Hatch peppers, so everything was pretty spicy. They even had an ice cream sundae with a sauce with Hatch peppers and rum - odd, but actually pretty good.

Yes. It was a white-tail deer. The key thing is to gut, and clean right away, If the digestive tract is ruptured, you should also wash out the carcass well, with lots of fresh water, after properly gutting it. Eating an animal is still the same, no matter how it has died. The difference is, that in a traffic crash, there may be highly damaged areas, which may have to be discarded.

I haven't as im a little concerned as to hwo long its been out on the road before i find it and how squashed it is (obviously unless it was me that ran it over)

pheasant and deer are common options i think. theres a british guy whose name ive forgotten (probably other nationalities too) who published an entire road kill cookbook, including squirrels etc. sounds interesting

I haven't personally but I know someone who's eaten rabbit, deer and squirrel roadkill.

So I guess you go with the truck and look to run down some deers and so on? I can't believe you really asked it man but good luck with that...
