Actually it is called "sambar".

You can actually pick up a pre-made powder of it at an Indian grocery store, just make sure it by "Gits" or "Deep". They usually cost about $3.

My mom makes it all the time and she follows this Indian chef's recipe! Sambar also goes good with Idli or Dosa [you can check them out on Youtube].
